THE JAZZOPHONE

Double bell trumpet

This unusual double-belled trumpet was generously loaned to The Band Museum by Mr. Robert Ullery of Arlington, Virginia.  Mr. Ullery told us that it is one of two like it in the world.  The other can be found at the German patent office.  It will be on display in our museum until December 2004.

The right hand bell is a standard trumpet bell producing a standard trumpet sound.  The left hand bell has a built-in mute and is operated by a separate valve using the left hand thumb.  The round padded attachment produces a “wow-wow” effect when used.
